Why learn Chess?

Chess. More than a mere game, it is a mental sport with the capability to instill discipline and honed thinking in its players. Chess is an ancient game originally designed to train a king’s top generals in tactics and strategy to win on the battlefield. It’s an important mental exercise that develops a child’s ability to think critically, strategically, and creatively as they utilize various parts of their brain to outthink and outmaneuver their opponent.

Many studies have confirmed this intellectual development: Chess raises IQ levels, improves memory and concentration, mathematical ability, and even language acquisition. This makes chess a vital part of anyone’s childhood education.

Tekkie Uni teaching team

Tekkie Uni’s teachers are highly experienced in teaching coding for children. They are the heart of the class, teaching online with enthusiasm, encouraging participation and happy to answer every child’s question.

How we make it work

Tekkie Uni specializes in operating live-online sessions with full real-time interaction guided by an experienced and attentive teacher, because we believe that with a little help every child who wants to learn – can!

  • Learning together

The question is not what we are learning, but with whom. That's why we use video conference software allowing a small group of students to get to know each other and their teacher. The teacher uses a shared screen option so everyone can see what they are doing on their desktop, and students can fully participate in the lesson by using the microphone or the chat.
  • Games & Tournaments

Learning through play has many advantages. Playing increases the motivation and interest of the students, adds social interaction to the lesson and allows students to acquire new knowledge naturally and in a fun way. The sessions in the program combine theoretical learning and practice through games and tournaments, guided by an experienced teacher.
  • Practice and reviewing

The students practice outside the classroom, too. They continue to play chess online and score points using the lichess.org software. In addition, they review the new rules with interactive group trivia games using the Kahoot app.
