Python NinjasLevel: Advanced

Children with some existing programming experience can learn to write code in one of the most common languages in the industry
as well as gaining valuable skills for the future

Course Information

Discover the world’s most well-known language!

Python is a programming language with many advantages: it is one of the most common languages used in the industry, it is taught in most universities in various faculties – not only programming, and unlike other programming languages it can be used for almost any purpose. For example, Python is a must-have tool in data science and Big data but is also used for website development, algorithms for autonomous cars and computer games.

The course is intended for children with some previous programming experience. Your child must be familiar with basic concepts such as variables, conditions and strings so that we can teach them to write code in the programming language of adults. During the course, they will work on projects and develop games in the Python language. In the first half of the course, the children create simple games in order to assimilate concepts and foundations in the new language. The second half is dedicated to programming complex games, during which your children will use design tools and develop products to a high standard.

Student Testimonials

Kids have fun learning online, creating and innovating with us. Don't take our word for it - listen to our students' experience!

Course Curriculum

The children will become familiar with the development environment and learn advanced concepts in programming such as casting, classes, documentation and more. Our learning method is project-based and allows children to gain complex skills whilst enjoying themselves at the same time. During the course, the children will program computer games, which will help to develop their logical thinking and assimilate the learned concepts.

Learning Environment

PyCharm

PyCharm

PyCharm is the most common programming environment for programming in Python. It is an environment used by companies such as Twitter, Pinterest, HP and many others. It is also compatible with most operating systems including Windows, Linux and MacOS so one code can be written for different devices.

Projects

Let's Get Started

Let's Get Started The children will be introduced to the PyCharm development environment and then start writing basic code in Python. They will use tools that every programmer should know including print command, use of variables and conditions.

My Guessing Game

My Guessing Game In this project, the children will create a guessing game where the computer chooses one number from a range and using the clues provided, the player tries to guess the selected number. Throughout the game the children will learn these skills: importing and using Python libraries, getting to know usable functions such as input function, working with variables including casting and different ways of threading.

My Guessing Game Mastermind

My Guessing Game Mastermind This project builds a complex guessing game that requires advanced logical thinking. The children will decode the game's algorithm code, use the debugger, and become familiar with other functions in the Python language such as: zip, enumerate, documentation, constant and more.

Tahiti

Tahiti We do not have any assessments in Tahiti, so how can we find out if the children have understood everything so far? Tahiti is a computer game that challenges children on their knowledge learned in class. The children have fun playing the game whilst learning at the same time is a bonus.

Nice to Meet You

Nice to Meet You In this project the children will start to use the GUI library and PyGame, as well as gaining new skills that will help them design a graphical user interface in the following lessons.

Dressing Up the Guessing Game

Dressing Up the Guessing Game Now the children are ready to use the skills that they have learned and upgrade the guessing game by building a graphical user interface.

Space Invaders

Space Invaders In the final graduation project the children will program a shooting game where a spaceship moves across the screen to escape meteors and destroy them. They will program the game using a sprite object and then convert the simple graphics into images and design of their choice.

Tekkie Uni teaching team

Tekkie Uni’s teachers are highly experienced in teaching coding for children. They are the heart of the class, teaching online with enthusiasm, encouraging participation and happy to answer every child’s question.

How we make it work

TekkieUni specializes in operating live-online sessions with full real-time interaction guided by an experienced and attentive teacher, because we believe that with a little help every child who wants to learn – can!

  • Learning together

Learning is all about connecting. That's why we use a video conference software allowing the small size group of children to get to know each other and their teacher. The teacher uses a shared screen option so everyone can see what they are doing on their desktop, and kids can fully participate in the lesson by using the microphone or the chat.
  • Hands-on experience

In addition to the weekly live lessons, students are invited to join a live weekly Q&A session with a teacher present in class. The session is dedicated to provide personal assistance with students' projects, exercises and questions. All the live lessons and practice sessions are automatically recorded and available for students during the course.
  • Project-Based Learning

Students learn by doing and work on interest-based projects, which create a fun class dynamics where we don't present the answers but look for them together.
